Assignment 3: Henri Cartier- Bresson

Henri Cartier- BRESSON
(1908- 2004)

Henri Cartier- Bresson was a French photographer and also known as “the father of photojournalism”.

Cartier was born in France as the eldest of five children. He attended “École Fénelon”, a Catholic school that prepared students to attend “Lycée Condorcet”. At the age of 19, Cartier-Bresson entered a private art school and the Lhote Academy, the Parisian studio of the Cubist painter and sculptor André Lhote.

I like the photographer I chose because of his spectacular photographs. Henri Cartier- Bresson took photos out of our daily lives and made them to something special.
What I like the most about him is how he put his compositions together. Cartier- Bresson uses the Rule of Thirds for most of the time as well as leading lines and patterns. In each of his picture you see a story behind it, which makes it more interesting for the viewer.
One of his most famous picture is “Place De L’ Europe”.
